of a seminar urged the government to increase the
setences for less age marriage of girls.Addressing
the seminar which was held under the auspices of
child rights committee(CRC) on Sunday,district
officer social welfare Ch Muhammad Irfan said that
under the law sentence of three months and a fine of
Rs 1000 could be awarded to those who marry a girl
of less than 16 year of age with a man.District CRC
coordinator Advocates Abdul Manaf Khan,Ms Saba Sabir
Bano,Maham Ijaz,Shahid Sindhu,Mushtaq Kashfi and
Habib Haris said that parliamentarians should bring
a bill in assemblies to raise the sentence.They also
suggested that nikah registrar be made bound to
verify age of girls through birth record of union
council before nikah registration of all couples.

Ahsan Younis who had injured in a road accident near Faisalabad on
his way to Lahore,was shifted to Lahore from Faisalabad divisional
headquarter hospital for treatment on Saturday night.His leg had
been fractured while he had also received injuries on face and an
arm.His driver Muhammad Iftikhar who was also injured in accident
was under treatment in Faisalabad hospital. |
