A wedding function was going on when accused Iqbal allegedly resorted aerial firing. In the meantime, a bullet hit wedding guest Sajida. As a result, she was seriously injured. She was shifted to RHC Pirmahal where she succumbed to injuries.

While inaugurating a three-day anti-polio campaign at DHQ Hospital on Saturday, he said that CM Shahbaz Sharif was very keen in eradication of polio from Punjab. MPA Mian Rafiq, DCO Javed Iqbal, EDO Health Dr Ch Ashraf and others were also present.

He said that no motorcycles, cycles and other vehicles would not be allowed to enter within 500 meter area of Milad processions.

They blocked traffic on Toba-Rajana Road for half an hour. They told journalists that they had deposited their utility bills to Muhammad Yaseen, owner of the e-Sahulat, but he misappropriated the money and fled after closing his office. Later, they dispersed on the assurance of the Nadra officials that action would be taken against the franchise owner.

Deputy Director of an NGO Rafia Salomi said that inter-district network for peasant women had been established to empower them to struggle for their rights. She added that peasant women were struggling for equal wages and social security and advocacy training workshop had been organised to impart concepts and skills to further strengthen the rights movement for peasant women. A trainer from Islamabad Falk Ali stated that the key to the success of the peasant women was in their unity and the women needed to involve other groups to put pressure on the government to take steps to improve peasant women’s condition. The DCO hailed the NGO for working to educate weaker groups of the society and assured that local administration would support the NGO in its struggle for peace, harmony and development. Later, Additional Deputy Commissioner Haroonur Rashid, Christian Rev Fr Simon Khurshid and other notables handed over training certificates among peasant women trainees.

Addressing the conference at Kamalia on Thursday night, Labour Party Pakistan (LPP) leader Farooq Tariq said that the country was facing worst economic crisis and factories had been closed due to wrong policies of politicians and military rulers, leaving millions of labourers jobless.
He claimed that 13 LPP activists were in jail for the last several months in Faisalabad and Gilgit-Baltistan for struggling for their rights and it was happening during the government of the PPP, which claimed itself the party of the masses. He demanded that tariffs of gas, electricity and petroleum products should be reduced. Pakistan Bhatta Mazdoor Union secretary Mehmood Ahmad Butt, Kamalia Bar Association secretary general Sardar Siddique Akbar Khatana, Punjab National Students Federation organiser Mian Naveed, LPP secretary Tariq Mahmood, Kamalia Press Club president Rana Amjad, Rana Murtaza, Amanat Ali, Qari Ahmad Bilal, Qadir Ansari, Rana Saeed and Sardar Gujjar also spoke. Earlier, Farooq Tariq and other leaders were accorded a warm welcome from Bypass Road to the venue of the conference.

In the first incident, four dacoits broke into the house of Zaheer Ahmad at Muhammadpura, locked his sister Farhana in a bathroom and made off with cash and gold ornaments. In the second incident, four dacoits intercepted motorcyclist Allah Rakha near the Government High School at Rajana and robbed him of Rs 55,000. In the third incident, 10 robbers broke into the outhouse of Abdul Aziz at Chak 361/JB, Gojra, and took away valuables.
